Week 3, Monoprint 3

Don't Cry or Your Face Might Melt, No. 3
oil based relief ink on paper
7 x 7"
I have enjoyed making this series of prints. It has proven to be quite messy, but the mess is worth the end result. The monoprints are made with ink and plexiglass. The image is then run through the press and the end result is unpredictable due to the distortion caused by the pressure of the printing press. They can be both fun and frustrating to make, but mostly fun. They are a good way to let go of trying to control and perfect the printmaking process, and they are an excellent way to welcome elements of abstraction into the work.

One MONOPRINT a WEEK!

I tried the 365 day drawing project and stopped somewhere after 60 drawings. I did not want to rush them so I decided in order to continue being productive I should try something new. I am now thinking about making one monoprint a week. Here is the first one...
